Creating an IP-based domain

Before you start, make sure you have all the required information to create a domain.

To create an IP-based domain:

  1. Open the Sites Manager.

  2. In the Sites Manager menu, in the Add list, click the arrow and choose Add IP-based Site.

  3. The Add IP-based Site form opens.

  4. In the Site Name field, enter the name of the domain you are creating. Do not include the www prefix.

  5. Important: The domain name must be the fully qualified name, containing both the host name and the domain name (but not the prefix).

  6. In the Administrator User Name field, enter a user name for the Site Administrator, the person who will manage this new domain.

  7. Important: You must not enter a user name starting with a number (such as 123abc). If you do, you will receive an error message and the domain will fail to add.

  8. In the Administrator Password field, enter a password for the Site Administrator. Retype this password in the Confirm Administrator Password field.

  9. In the Email Contact field, enter the email address of the Site Administrator.

  10. In the IP Address field, enter the IP address you are assigning to the domain.

  11. In the Select a Service Plan field, do one of the following:

  12. Click Add.

  13. WEBppliance creates the new IP-based domain and assigns a temporary, default home page for it. To view this temporary home page, go to: http://<your_domain_name>.
